Niobium Titanium Nb-Ti Bar /Rod

 Nb-50% Ti-50% is an alloy consists of niobium and titanium. Normally the content of titanium is between 20% and 60% for industrial-used niobium titanium alloys. The most typical niobium titanium alloy is approximately titanium 66%.
Nb-50% Ti-50% has good superconductivity and is used in superconducting industry. It is also very strong, so it is also used in aerospace industry.
Niobium titanium alloy is an important alloyed superconductor material. Its superconductive transition temperature is 8K to 10K. If other elements are added into the alloy, superconductivity will be improved.
Niobium titanium alloy is sintered by alloyed powder. We use vacuum electrode arc furnace or electron-beam furnace to melt the alloyed ingots. The niobium titanium alloys can be in various forms sheet, bar, wire, target.


The niobium-titanium superconducting material has been applied in large scale devices such as superconducting high energy accelerator, superconducting nuclear magnetic resonance imaging diagnostic instrument, superconducting maglev high speed train and superconducting high intensity magnetic separator.

It is also used in controlled nuclear fusion, magnetic fluid power generation, generator, transmission, energy storage and other energy development.

In addition, it is used in the fields of high magnetic propulsion system (ships, ships, high speed launching devices) and military defense.

After the composition of niobium-titanium superconducting material is determined, its Tc and Hc2 values generally change little, and its Jc has a significant relationship with the microstructure produced by cold working-aging treatment.

If the morphology, size, spacing and quantity of cold-worked dislocation cell wall and heat-treated precipitated phase can match the quantum magnetic flux, the maximum magnetic flux pinning force will be generated (see magnetic flux pinning theory), and the Jc of niobium-titanium superconducting material will reach its maximum value.

In the production of niobium-titanium superconducting materials, the Jc of the materials is significantly improved by the single aging treatment after strong cold deformation. The process flow chart of niobium-titanium superconducting material manufacturing process of pure niobium-titanium pure products after the last aging process of niobium-N further cold deformation process technology (see multiple aging treatment technology of niobium-iron superconducting materials) can produce ideal microstructure (see microstructure of niobium-titanium superconducting materials), so that Jc can obtain greater value. By the end of 1980s and the beginning of 1990s, the Jc of NbTi46.5 / Cu multi-core composite Niobium-titanium superconducting materials was increased to a new level of (3.7 ~ 3.8)×105A/cm2(4.2 K, 5T, 10-14Ω•m criterion).

The Jc value of commercial niobium-titanium superconducting materials is not higher than 2.75 ×105A/cm2(4.2K, 5T, 10-14Ω•m criterion).
